  4. BEFORE USING

  7. Before using PlanFlow for the first time, you should...
  8.  
  9. 1 )   Read the README file completely.
  10.  
  11. 2)    Make a printout of the User's Manual.

  13.             COPY MANUAL.DOC PRN

  15.       MANUAL.DOC is a plain ASCII text file formatted for a 8.5"x11"
  16.       fanfold paper, 80 columns and 66 lines to the page.

  19. INSTALLATION
  20.  
  21. Installing PlanFlow is now simpler. You can ignore the section in
  22. the manual on installation.
  23.  
  24. If you have the shareware distribution file, such as PF61D.EXE, copy
  25. it to a directory where you want the program files to reside. Then run
  26. PF61D to decompress the program files.
  27.  
  28. If you have a registered version of the program, copy the files on
  29. the diskette you received to the directory of your choice.
  30.  
  31. To run PlanFlow, type 'PFLOW'.

  35. CHANGES NOT IN MANUAL.DOC

  37. Defining Print Codes
  38. --------------------
  39.  
  40. The size of the print codes for setting expanded, compressed, and
  41. normal printing has been increased from 4 to 78 characters.
  42.  
  43. In printing reports, the compressed code is sent first to the printer.
  44. Use it for initializing your printer for the report as well as setting
  45. the format for the body of the report. The code should set a font
  46. and size that is small enough to prevent lines from wrapping.
  47.  
  48. The expanded code sets the format for the 2 title lines near the
  49. top of each page.
  50.  
  51. The normal code returns your printer to your default status. In
  52. addition, the normal code is used for the format of single item
  53. printouts.
  54.  
  55. The method for defining print codes has also changed. You can now
  56. enter either the ASCII letter or the numeric equivalent of the
  57. ASCII letter. You enter the numeric equivalent by typing a '\'
  58. followed by the numeric value of the ASCII letter. For example,
  59. you enter Escape-P by typing '\27P'.

  61. The print codes and page length are initially set for printing on
  62. a Hewlett Packard LaserJet 4L printer.

  64. Report Menu's Page and Line Commands

  67. The sections in the manual discussing the Report menu's Page and
  68. Line commands are no longer valid, as these two commands have
  69. been removed from the program.
  70.  
  71. The commands were removed since they do not apply to network
  72. printers, laser printers, or to dot matrix printers that have
  73. their own page alignment features.

  77. ABOUT PLANFLOW

  79. With capital projects, such as a new office building or industrial
  80. facility, it's often difficult to accurately forecast the cash flow
  81. requirements.  Developing the cost estimate is easy, but
  82. distributing that estimate over time can be a tedious, time-
  83. consuming, error-prone process.

  85. PlanFlow makes forecasting and updating cash flow estimates of
  86. capital projects quick and easy.  It has a number of unique
  87. features:

  89. *     Up to 40 curve shapes can be defined for distributing costs
  90.       over time.
  91.  
  92. *     A project can contain up to 600 cost items, each with up to
  93.       a 10 year monthly cash flow.
  94.  
  95. *     Costs can be subject to escalation or firm priced.
  96.  
  97. *     Escalation can be calculated by month for each cost item.
  98.  
  99. *     Forecasted costs can be updated with actuals, with the
  100.       difference distributed over the remaining cash flow.

  102. Menu-driven with on-line help for each function, PlanFlow is very
  103. easy to use.  Data can exported to spreadsheet programs, such as
  104. Lotus 1-2-3.

  110. The copy of PlanFlow that you have is a "shareware" product.
  111. PlanFlow is a copyrighted, proprietary program offered to you for
  112. your personal testing and use.

  114. You are free to use, copy and distribute PlanFlow for NONCOMMERCIAL
  115. purposes so long as no fee is charged for use, copying or
  116. distribution, and it is not modified in any way.
  117.  
  118. The $85 FULL REGISTRATION includes a diskette and preprinted manual
  119. of the current version, as well as discounts for future versions
  120. of the software when they become available.
