README
BEFORE USING
----------------------------------------------------------------
Before using PlanFlow for the first time, you should...
1 ) Read the README file completely.
2) Make a printout of the User's Manual.
COPY MANUAL.DOC PRN
MANUAL.DOC is a plain ASCII text file formatted for a 8.5"x11"
fanfold paper, 80 columns and 66 lines to the page.
----------------------------------------------------------------
INSTALLATION
Installing PlanFlow is now simpler. You can ignore the section in
the manual on installation.
If you have the shareware distribution file, such as PF61D.EXE, copy
it to a directory where you want the program files to reside. Then run
PF61D to decompress the program files.
If you have a registered version of the program, copy the files on
the diskette you received to the directory of your choice.
To run PlanFlow, type 'PFLOW'.

CHANGES NOT IN MANUAL.DOC
Defining Print Codes
--------------------
The size of the print codes for setting expanded, compressed, and
normal printing has been increased from 4 to 78 characters.
In printing reports, the compressed code is sent first to the printer.
Use it for initializing your printer for the report as well as setting
the format for the body of the report. The code should set a font
and size that is small enough to prevent lines from wrapping.
The expanded code sets the format for the 2 title lines near the
top of each page.
The normal code returns your printer to your default status. In
addition, the normal code is used for the format of single item
printouts.
The method for defining print codes has also changed. You can now
enter either the ASCII letter or the numeric equivalent of the
ASCII letter. You enter the numeric equivalent by typing a '\'
followed by the numeric value of the ASCII letter. For example,
you enter Escape-P by typing '\27P'.
The print codes and page length are initially set for printing on
a Hewlett Packard LaserJet 4L printer.
Report Menu's Page and Line Commands
------------------------------------
The sections in the manual discussing the Report menu's Page and
Line commands are no longer valid, as these two commands have
been removed from the program.
The commands were removed since they do not apply to network
printers, laser printers, or to dot matrix printers that have
their own page alignment features.

ABOUT PLANFLOW
With capital projects, such as a new office building or industrial
facility, it's often difficult to accurately forecast the cash flow
requirements. Developing the cost estimate is easy, but
distributing that estimate over time can be a tedious, time-
consuming, error-prone process.
PlanFlow makes forecasting and updating cash flow estimates of
capital projects quick and easy. It has a number of unique
features:
* Up to 40 curve shapes can be defined for distributing costs
over time.
* A project can contain up to 600 cost items, each with up to
a 10 year monthly cash flow.
* Costs can be subject to escalation or firm priced.
* Escalation can be calculated by month for each cost item.
* Forecasted costs can be updated with actuals, with the
difference distributed over the remaining cash flow.
Menu-driven with on-line help for each function, PlanFlow is very
easy to use. Data can exported to spreadsheet programs, such as
Lotus 1-2-3.
